Owning a motorcycle comes with a sense of freedom and adventure, but it also comes with responsibilities, including the need for insurance. Just like owning a car, having insurance for your motorcycle isn’t just a good idea—it’s often a legal requirement. In most states, you’ll need to carry minimum liability and property damage coverage to legally ride on public roads. This ensures that if an accident happens, you’re protected against the financial consequences.
Many motorcycle owners mistakenly think they can skip insurance, especially if they only ride occasionally or during specific seasons. However, proof of insurance is typically required to register your bike with the state, making it a non-negotiable step. Beyond legality, insurance provides valuable peace of mind. It helps cover damages to your motorcycle, other vehicles, and property, and even medical expenses, depending on the policy you choose.
Whether you’re a year-round rider or someone who enjoys occasional weekend rides, motorcycle insurance is essential. It safeguards your financial well-being while ensuring you’re compliant with state laws. Plus, with customizable coverage options available, you can find a policy that fits your budget and riding habits. Stay informed, stay protected, and enjoy the open road knowing you’re covered.

Do I Need Motorcycle Insurance? – Entrust Insurance, St. Clair Shores

“ Yeah. And it’s different than what I explained about auto insurance, because you don’t have to add a separate coverage to that. And sometimes it’s covered under theft and vandalism. So your, your standard homeowner’s policy will, will cover you and safeguard you against that. The things that keep in mind though, are you have a deductible that you have to pay.
And in most cases, at least most of our clients, it’s a lower deductible at a thousand dollars. And so it’s just a matter of. what damage was done, how much was stolen, how much did you lose versus what your deductible is, and that will help you determine if you use your insurance to file a theft claim or a vandalism claim, or if you end up paying for it out of pocket.”
